Is TRON Energy Rental Safe? What the Service Can and Cannot Do
Short answer: energy rental is safe in the sense that the service only needs your public address. Energy arrives through a standard TRON protocol function. No seed phrase, keys or signatures are involved, and the service cannot move your funds.
How energy rental works
TRON has a mechanism called Stake 2.0. A TRX holder freezes coins and receives energy. They can then delegate that energy, which means temporarily lending it to another address. The protocol has a standard operation for this, called DelegateResource.
A rental service delegates energy to your address for the chosen period. When the period ends, it takes the energy back. This is called a reclaim.
Delegation is an action on the service side. You do not sign anything or connect to anything. It is not a dApp connection.
What the service sees and what it does not
| The service gets | The service does not get |
|---|---|
| Your public TRON address | Your seed phrase |
| Order volume and duration | Your private key |
| Payment for the rental | The right to sign transactions |
| — | Access to your USDT or TRX |
A helpful analogy: it is like renting a parking space, not handing over the keys to your house. You get a resource for a while, and nobody gets access to your wallet.
How to verify delegation on TronScan in 4 steps
- Open TronScan and enter your address.
- In the Resources tab, check your energy. It shows whether it is your own, from staked TRX, or delegated.
- In the Transactions tab, find a DelegateResource entry.
- Check the delegator address and the period.
If you see DelegateResource to your address, the energy arrived the standard way.
Red flags: how to spot a scam
They ask for your seed phrase or private key
Energy rental never needs them. Any request to enter them is a sign of fraud.
They ask you to sign an unclear transaction
You do not sign anything to receive energy. If a site asks you to connect your wallet and approve an operation, stop.
They hide the delegator address
An honest service has a public delegation history on TronScan that anyone can check.
No support before payment
If there is nobody to ask before you pay and no independent reviews, it is better to walk away.
What can still go wrong
Renting gives the service no access to your wallet. But here is what can go wrong in practice:
- You paid, but sent USDT before the energy arrived. The network then burns TRX, and burned TRX is not refunded. Send only once the energy is on your address. It usually takes 3–10 seconds.
- You entered the wrong address. The energy goes there. A TRON address starts with T and has 34 characters.
- You entered an exchange address. Energy does not work on exchange addresses. Use your own non-custodial wallet.
- Leftover energy. Unused energy is not refunded after the period ends.
- Clipboard malware. It can swap the address when you copy it. Always check the first and last 4 characters.
How Sunlendio handles your data
Sunlendio uses only your public address to delegate energy. The service does not hold user funds, except for an optional balance you top up to pay for orders. Learn more on the security page.
How to start safely
- Copy your wallet address and double-check it.
- Work out the volume in the calculator: ~65,000 energy for a regular transfer, ~131,000 for a new address.
- Place an order on the buy energy page or in the Sunlendio Telegram bot.
- Confirm the energy on TronScan, then send USDT.
Why rent at all: the numbers
| Transfer | Energy | TRX burned without rental | Rental (market range) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recipient already holds USDT | ~65,000 | ~6.85 TRX | from ~2–3 TRX |
| New address or exchange | ~131,000 | ~13.35 TRX | from ~4–6.5 TRX |
Rental prices change during the day. Current prices are on the pricing page.
Summary
Energy rental needs no keys and gives no wallet access. Anyone can verify delegation on TronScan. The golden rule: never share your seed phrase. Check your savings in the calculator.
