How to send USDT TRC-20 from Exodus for less
A USDT TRC-20 transfer from Exodus gets cheaper if you rent TRON energy to your wallet address before sending. Without energy the network burns about 6.85 TRX per transfer; with a rental you pay 2–3× less.
Exodus is a multi-asset wallet, and it pays TRON network fees in TRX. If your address has rented energy, the network uses it instead of burning TRX. Renting only needs your public address — your recovery phrase stays in the wallet.
How to send USDT from Exodus for less: 3 steps
- Copy your TRON address. In Exodus, open USDT on the TRON network (TRC-20) or TRX and go to Receive. Copy the address that starts with T. Make sure it is the TRON network and not USDT on another chain.
- Buy energy for that address. Paste the address on the buy energy page, choose the number of transfers (65,000 Energy covers one transfer to a recipient who holds USDT, 131,000 — to a new address) and the term. Energy usually arrives within seconds after payment.
- Send USDT. Once the energy arrives, send USDT TRC-20 as usual. If the wallet shows a fee estimate, compare it with the usual one — with enough energy almost no TRX is burned.
Buy energy before you send: if a transaction already went through with burning, or failed with OUT OF ENERGY, the network does not return burned TRX.

TRON network, not another chain
USDT in Exodus can live on several networks. TRON energy only works for USDT TRC-20. Check that the address starts with T and that the recipient expects a transfer on TRON.
TRX for fees
The wallet may require some TRX on the balance to send a token, even when energy is sufficient. Keep a small TRX reserve — it also covers Bandwidth if you send more than once a day.
New recipient
